SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE:

Our school age program, known as "Tiger Town Club", provides a warm and secure environment for elementary and middle school children.  Tiger Town's basic philosophy is the creation of a safe, nurturing environment where children have fun and opportunities for educational enrichment and recreation. This program is basically childrens choice but teacher directed.  It permits freedom within set limits with unstructured, leisure, and restful activities along with opportunities for physical play. Children are able to choose from a variety of activities that include structured experiences, informal social interaction and solitary play which reflect the different needs of the various ages.

The children occupy a rather large room located on the main floor.  Adjacent to this room is the Music and Video Room.  "Tiger Town Club" has their own computer and a System 80. The physical space of the main room is separated into the following interest/activity areas:

nArts and Crafts Area - Paint, paper, glue, crayons, markers and scissors are available for the children to use independently.  Special projects with materials are planned and set-up with supervision.

nConstruction Area - Building materials (ie. wood, glue and simple tools) are available under supervision.

nBlock Area  - An area equipped with blocks and accessory toys (ie. trucks, animals and dolls).

nQuiet Area - A private space created with dividers and comfortable accessories (ie. rug and bean bags).

nActive Area - An indoor space is allotted allowing play with reasonable sports equipment.

nReading Corner - Adjacent to the "Quiet Area" with books available for use.

nTable Area - A space with games, puzzles and manipulative materials.

nExploration Area - A science area with appropriate materials (ie. magnets, microscope, magnifying glasses, etc.).

nOutdoor Space - An outdoor area for active physical play and sports including outdoor gym equipment and a basketball hoop.

nAuxiliary Space - The children have access to the kitchen for cooking/baking experiences under supervision. The Dining Room is also available to the School Age Child Care Program alternately and/or with the Day Care Program.
